Mayor's Report for September 15, 2026

September 1st

I presided over the regular meeting of Marmora and Lake Council.

September 5th

I attended the official opening of the Marmora Fair along with MP Shelby Kramp-Neuman and MPP Ric Bresee. On behalf of the Mayor and Council, I thanked the executive and volunteers of the Marmora Agricultural Society for continuing the annual Fair and their great contribution to the Marmora and Lake Community. I attended the smash up derby which was entertaining. Also, thanks to the sponsors, vendors, entertainers and participants in the various competitions and events.

September 8th

I participated in the meeting of the Southeast Board of Health Governance Committee.

September 9th

I travelled to Ottawa to attend the Ontario East Municipal Conference. This is a great conference because it is relative to small urban and rural communities.

I attended the section on Power, Pressure & the Next Council- The 2026 Elections Impact on Eastern Ontario and the OEMC reception.

September 10th

I attended the panel discussion of ALTO representatives on "Local Opportunity in a National Infrastructure Project: how Alto High-Speed Rail Can Support Economic Growth in Eastern Ontario". Chair of the Eastern Ontario Warden's Caucus stated that feedback from a number of communities expressed their views that although a number of consultations were held, there was a lack of transparency.

I attended a session on the Municipal Law Update and Adaptive Reuse that delivers: being a renovation of an existing building into affordable housing.

September 15th

This morning I attended the regular Hastings County Planning & Development, and Finance, Property & Personnel Committee meetings.

Tomorrow there is a Special Closed Council Meeting to select applications for the Road Manager position.
