Friday, May 1, 2026: Nomination & Registration Periods Begin
This is the first day of the candidate nomination period, which ends on Nomination Day, August 21st.
This is also the first day of the third party advertiser registration period, which ends on October 23rd.
Friday, August 21, 2026: Nomination Day
Candidate nominations may be filed from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
This is the last day for candidates to withdraw their nominations by filing a written notice with the Clerk.
Nominations and withdrawals cannot be accepted after 2:00 p.m.
Monday, August 24, 2026: Certification of Nominations
By 4:00 p.m., the Clerk will examine candidate nominations and, if satisfied, certify those nominations.
Also by 4:00 p.m., the Clerk will declare any candidates elected by acclamation.
What is a Declaration of Acclamation?
Candidates may be acclaimed to a position of Council if the number of certified candidates for an office is the same as, or less than, the number to be elected. If there are three or less candidates running for a Councillor position, or only one candidate running for Mayor or Deputy Mayor, without opposition, those candidates will be acclaimed to their seat on Council on this date, at 4:00 p.m.
Tuesday, September 1, 2026: Voters List Available
The Voters List will be made available to certified candidates and the revision period for electors will begin (ending at the close of voting on October 26th).
To Be Determined: Voting Period
The period during which electors can vote from home, or at the Voter Help Centre, prior to Voting Day.
Friday, October 23, 2026: Third Party Advertiser Deadline
The last day for third party advertisers to file a notice of registration or withdraw their registration by filing a written notice with the Clerk, by 4:30 p.m.
Monday, October 26, 2026: Voting Day
The Voting Centre will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with all voting ending at 8:00 p.m.
Tuesday, October 27, 2026: Declaration of Results
As soon as possible after Voting Day, the results will be declared to the public on the municipal website.
Sunday, November 15, 2026: 2026-2030 Term Begins
The 2026-2030 term of office commences.
Wednesday, December 16, 2026: Inaugural Meeting Deadline
This is the last day for the newly formed Council to have its inaugural meeting, no later than 31 days after its term commences.
