Do I have to register as a candidate prior to attending the free local candidate information sessions on May 19th and 20th?

No! Everyone is welcome to attend these information sessions, which are being hosted by the fourteen member municipalities of Hastings County. They are designed to give prospective candidates a clear and realistic understanding of what public office involves, covering topics such as how municipal government works, the roles and responsibilities of members of Council, and the ethical and legal expectations of elected officials. These workshops are intended to help you make an informed decision about whether running for office is the right fit for you, and to help those who do choose to run do so with confidence and clarity. You do not need to register your candidacy with the Clerk in order to attend.
