October 1st

I attended the funeral of Chris Dopking at the Marmara Pentecostal Church. Chris has worked at Queen's Park and was a valued member of his Church and our Community. MP Shelby Kramp Neiman, MPP Ric Bresee, MPP Graydon Smith and MPP Lisa Thompson were present. During a discussion with MPP Lisa Thompson, Minister of Rural Affairs, I invited her to visit our Town Hall and meet our staff. I was honoured that she accepted the invitation. She and her assistant toured the Town Hall and met with the Staff. I also had the opportunity to share our needs and concerns and identify priorities. She was very complimentary about our beautiful Town and offered to be available or to contact her and/or her assistant any time.

This is the last meeting of this term of Council.

I want to take the opportunity to thank the Deputy Mayor and Members of Council for their dedication and contribution to this term of Council. I also want to thank our great Staff for their dedication and service to Council and the residents of Marmara and Lake. Together, we survived a Dereco, a significant ice storm and numerous challenges. I, personally, appreciate the contribution each and every one of you made.

I have been told by a number of people that our Town looks good and our Auditor will be reporting on our financial position which also looks good. In my opinion we had a successful and progressive term of Council.
