Information for Candidates planning to campaign with signs:
Election signs may not be used until a candidate is officially registered in the election (by filing nomination papers (Forms 1 and 2) with the Clerk).
Election signs are prohibited on public property, with the exception of municipal road allowances, except:
On the travelled portions of road allowances;
Within 1.5 metres (4.9 feet) of the travelled portions of road allowances; and
Within 15.0 metres (49.2 feet) of any intersection.
Signage may only be placed on private property with permission of the property owner.
Election signs may be erected no earlier than Monday, August 31, 2026 - 8 weeks prior to Voting Day.
The municipal Bylaw Enforcement Officer reserves the right to remove signage that is in direct violation of the Sign Bylaw without notice. This may happen with or without complaint from the public.
The Bylaw Officer may also contact the candidate directly and request that s/he move the sign, or affix it properly,in accordance with the requirements of the bylaw.
Signs removed by the Municipality will be held for thirty (30) days. Arrangements may be made by the candidate, with the Municipality, to release the signs.
All election signage should be removed by October 26, 2026 (Voting Day) at 11:59 p.m.
