Mayor's Report for May 6, 2025
April 15th
I presided over the Marmora and Lake Regular Council Meeting.
April 16th
I participated in the South East Health Unit Finance Committee Meeting.
April 23rd
I chaired the regular board meeting of the South East Health Unit in Kingston
April 24th
I attended the regular meeting of County Council.
That afternoon, I attended the meeting of the Central Hastings Transit Committee.
April 25th
I participated in a zoom meeting with Brent Feeney, Ministry of Health to discuss funding.
April 29th - May 2nd
I attended the OSUM (Ontario Small Urban Municipalities) Conference in Collingwood.
The topics included a presentation by a professional economist on the trade tariffs and the impact on municipalities, Collingwood's efforts and planning to address affordable housing and homelessness, development and ongoing progress with the BIA. We were also provided a tour of their new water treatment plant and development of their waterfront parks. They have an abandoned silo site which they are planning to convert into living accommodations. What a beautiful town that is growing rapidly.
May 3rd
I attended the tree giveaway in Marmora. Thank you to Deputy Mayor Stevens and Councillor Eric Daoust for setting up the tables, sorting the trees and to the volunteers who worked in the cold weather.
May 4th
I attended the Van Jam in Madoc. This was a fundraiser for the Central Hastings Support Network which provides services to the Food Bank and transportation for individuals from Centre Hastings, Madoc Township, Marmora, Stirling and Tweed to appointments, school, work and programs in the community. Thank you to Victoria Treverton and her team for the work they do to support this important service to the community.
May 5th
Councillor Derry and CAO John and I met with members of the Lions Club regarding our agreement with the Lions Club. There will be a report presented to Council when a final draft is available.
May 6th
I attended the Board of Health Office to sign documents.
