The Municipality of Marmora & Lake received its first nomination today for the office of Mayor. The nominee is current Deputy Mayor, Linda Bracken.

Nominations are open until July 27, 2018 at 2 p.m. and can be submitted at the Town Hall at 12 Bursthall Street.

Marmora Senior's Fair Looking for Vendors!

Marmora and Lake is organizing a Senior's Fair and we are looking for interested vendors!


We have changed the date!

WHEN: Friday, Sept 21, 11:00 am -4:00 pm
WHERE: Marmora Community Centre

The Senior's Fair is an opportunity for local organizations and businesses to inform seniors of the services they have to offer in our area.  Since many seniors are not online, we appreciate any printed material you can leave with them. 

Seniors in our community will benefit from things like:

  • medical and health information
  • local social groups and activities
  • workshops
  • volunteering opportunities
  • social services
  • transportation information
  • and more!

Community Care For Central Hasting “16th Annual Dinner Auction”

Madoc-Tweed, ON

After 15 fantastic seasons of unparalleled success, Community Care For Central Hastings is pleased to announce its 16th Annual Dinner Auction Event. On April 28, 2018 at Eldorado Community Hall located at 15651 Highway 62 Madoc, doors open at 5:00 p.m. Dinner, silent auction, raffle draw and a 50/50 draw will make this the event of the year.

Tickets are available for purchase at both the Community Care Office located at 108 Russel St., Madoc, ON and Hidden Treasures, 333 Victoria St N, Tweed, ON. for a donation of $25.00 per person.

Guests can have fun with this year’s colourful Mardi Gras themed Dinner Auction. The Community Care for Central Hastings is encouraging guests to wear the fun, bright and exciting colours and beads of Mardi Gras (Purple, Gold and Green) to compliment the atmosphere. 

The most favored elements of the Dinner Auction will remain:  A flavorful, locally prepared and catered 2 course Roast Beef Dinner, the hottest up-and-coming local artisan donations and an impressive array of Central Hastings generous business donations, all up for silent and live auction.

Our mission; Community Care for Central Hastings is a non-profit volunteer supported agency serving both seniors and adults with physical disabilities. We provide programs and services that enable our clients to be independent in their home and improve their quality of life by assisting them to better utilize community resources.

Notice of Intention to Pass a By-law to remove a Holding Symbol

Please TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Municipality of Marmora & Lake will hold a meeting on the 1st day of May, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers at 12 Bursthall Street, Marmora. This meeting will consider the removal of a holding provision (-h) in accordance with Section 36 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. P. 13.

Location of Subject Lands

The requested amendment applies to Part of Lots 1 & 3 of Plan 129, Village of Marmora, in the Municipality of Marmora and Lake. Please see key map below.

Purpose (and Explanation) of the Proposed Amending By-law

The requested amendment will, if put into force and effect, serve the following purpose:

  • Remove the “holding provision (-h)” from one parcel of land in Part of Lots 1 and 3 of Plan 129, as depicted in the attached key map. The removal of the “holding provision (-h)” will allow use of the subject lands in accordance with the permissions and requirements of the Main Street Centre (MC) Zone.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION related to the proposed Zoning By-law Amendment is available for inspection, during regular business hours, at the office of the Clerk of the Municipality.

Take notice that the Council of the Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen will hold a Special Closed Session Joint Council Meeting with the Council of the Municipality of Marmora and Lake on FRIDAY, APRIL 20, 2018.

This Special Closed Session Joint Council Meeting is held under authority of Section 239(2)(e) of the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. 2001, c.25 for litigation or potential litigation, including matters before administrative tribunals, affecting the municipality or local board; and

Section 239(2)(f) of the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. 2001, c.25 for advice that is subject to solicitor-client privilege, including communications necessary for that purpose.

The meeting will commence at 1:30 p.m. and will be held in the Township of Havelock- Belmont-Methuen Council Chamber located at 1 Ottawa Street East in Havelock.

This meeting is closed to the public.
