Marmora and Lake Welcomes John Connolly

The Municipality of Marmora and Lake is pleased to announce the appointment of Chief Administrative Officer/Deputy Clerk, John F. Connolly, effective Monday, November 18th, 2024.

John is a career public servant with a background in planning, policy development, strategic planning and management. He has served in senior roles at the federal and provincial levels, including Public Infrastructure Renewal, Ministry of Natural Resources, and Ministry of Environment before joining the municipal world serving in various management positions in the Regional Municipality of Durham and the Township of Cavan Monaghan. John holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts (Geography), as well as a Master’s Certificate in Public Sector Management, and various certificates ranging from advanced alternative dispute resolution to project management.

John has expressed his enthusiasm for his new role and looks forward to working with Council, the dedicated staff, and the Marmora and Lakes residents and property owners. When asked for a favourite quote, John’s response was: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world: indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” (Margaret Mead)

Mayor O’Neill welcomes John to the Municipality of Marmora and Lake, noting that his experience, education and excitement for this opportunity will have a positive influence on the Corporation and the municipality as a whole. She noted that Council is happy to have John joining the team and is looking forward to moving ahead with various projects.
