Emergency Management Update for July 25, 2022

The Emergency Management Control Group met this afternoon and assessed the damage from last night's storm.

Dylan Adams, Manager of Transportation/Parks and Recreation, confirmed that all roads are now open, and cleanup will be completed by tomorrow night. Unfortunately, assistance with private property cleanup is not available from the Municipality.

Tony Brownson, Fire Chief, reported that the Fire Department responded to numerous calls last night, and he had a few tips he wanted to pass on to the public based on his observations:

  1. Remember that you will not always receive an alert regarding severe weather. Always be prepared.

  2. Take cover when the storm hits.

    • Don't run outside to take pictures during a storm.

    • Don't run to your car to drive away from the storm.

    • If you are inside, stay away from the windows.

    • Find a low area or ditch and get down if you are outside and can't get indoors.

  3. If your home is damaged, wait to power up your generator until you can assess the damage appropriately. A damaged wire is a fire hazard when using generators.
