Half Load Restrictions Begin THIS FRIDAY February 20, 2026

Half-load restrictions go into effect this Friday, February 20, 2026, or when signs are in place.

In the spring, the Municipality of Marmora and Lake, along with other local municipalities, restrict the operation of motor vehicles heavier than 5,000 kg (5 tonnes per axle) on designated roads as part of the Highway Traffic Act.

Half road restrictions protect Ontario's highways during spring thaw, when road damage is most likely to occur. Likewise, reduced loads are necessary to protect the integrity of the Municipal road system as everything begins to thaw. Enforcement of half-load restrictions will commence once half-load signs are erected, on and around February 20th.

Persons contravening this regulation will be prosecuted under Section 122 of the Highway Traffic Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, as amended.
