🌨️ Early Snowfall Reminder: Gravel Roads
As we experience the first snowfall of the season, please be advised that many gravel roads have not yet frozen. Because of this, the Roads Crew will only be plowing these roads where absolutely necessary. Sand will be applied where needed to improve traction.
Plowing gravel roads before they are frozen can cause several issues, including:
🔹Damage to the road surface, as plows can dig into soft gravel and create ruts or uneven areas.
🔹Loss of valuable gravel, which is costly and time consuming to replace.
🔹Increased wear and tear on equipment, as blades and trucks can be damaged by soft spots or rocks.
These precautions help protect our Crew, municipal equipment and the roads themselves.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate these early winter conditions.
Thank you! 👷♂️👷♀️
This is an example of what can happen if you try to plow a gravel road before it is frozen.
