Mayor's Report for May 5, 2026
April 21st
I presided over the regular meetings of Planning and Council.
April 26th
I attended the Volunteer Recognition Ceremony in Centre Hastings at the Kiwanis Club.
The following recipients were recognized for their exemplary community service and their names were placed on the honourary wall of honour:
Dr. Janet Webb, contribution to Hospice House
O’Hara Mill Museum
Karen & Harold Bailey, Hockey with youth over many years
Thrift Shop, donations to other organizations through sales
Colleen McAlister, youth centre
Mr. Pitts, Author and historian for the Madoc area
MP Shelby Kramp-Neuman, MPP Ric Bresee, Mayor Tom Deline and Mayor Lloyd Blackburn made the presentations. The contributions by our volunteers in these communities are invaluable. On behalf of Marmora and Lake Council, congratulations on this recognition and thank you for your dedication.
That afternoon, I attended the last part of the ALTO Community Meeting. For the part I was there, speakers were presenting their position on the project. Signs, shirts and information was available.
April 30th
I attended Hastings County Council.
I met with MPP Ric Bresee in his office. This was an unannounced impromptu meeting and I appreciate that he met with me without prior notice.
We discussed a number of topics but the main one being the request for funding for Highway 14. There is a notice of motion later in the Agenda.
May 2nd
Deputy Mayor Stevens, Councillor Daoust and I assisted with the annual tree give away at the fairgrounds. Thank you to Mike and Eric for organizing the event and to the volunteers who helped. The event was very successful and there were very few trees left.
Thank you again to the volunteer groups and individuals who cleaned the garbage around the municipality. Thanks to municipal staff who collected the trash and delivered it to the landfill.
May 5th
Tonight is our regular Planning and Council Meeting
