I met with CAO Connolly and Councillor Derry to discuss operational issues
May 9th
I attended the "Open Mic" event sponsored by the Lions Club. The event is scheduled for the second Sunday of the month. This was the last event until the fall. We have some very talented people in our community and the music was great. Also, since it was Mother's Day, every lady received a long stemmed red rose. Many couples took advantage of the good music and danced. Thank you again to the Lions Club for providing this community event.
May 12th
I chaired the Personnel Committee Meeting.
At 1:00 p.m., I met with the Central Hastings Transit Committee in Madoc. Discussion regarding levels of service and route scheduling and identifying service needs, i.e. medical appointments, transportation to school and work and of course funding. There was also a suggestion that scheduling and routes may be planned to accommodate food bank hours. Recognition that services may be extended to Deloro to serve residents particularly in the new apartment building was considered.
May 15th
I attended the installation of a new bridge in Queensborough at the invitation of the Mayor of Tweed and CAO Ron Diskey. The company in charge of the construction and installation is Northern Mat & Bridge. The bridge consisted of three spans approximately 60 ft. long and were levelled into place by a huge crane. I spoke to their project manager, Mr. Lee, to determine if this may be an option for bridge needs in M& L. He advised that this company does the complete project, planning, design, engineering, construction and installation. He will be contacting us in the near future to discuss some new design they are working on with longer spans which may be an advantage for such bridges as Shanick.
May 19th
I attended the regular Hastings County Planning & Development, and Finance, Property & Personnel Committee meetings this morning in Belleville.
