Mayor's Report for January 20, 2026

December 16th

At noon, I attended the Hastings County Christmas lunch.

I presided over the regular Marmora and Lake Council Meeting.

December 17th

I chaired the regular South East Health Unit meeting in Kingston.

December 18th

CAO Connolly and I delivered Christmas cards to staff. I attended the office to sign documents.

January 8th

I met with the CAO and Clerk.

January 12th

I met with Councillor Daoust regarding a Personnel Committee Agenda.

January 16th

I chaired the meeting of the Personnel Committee.

January 17th–20th

I attended the ROMA Conference in Toronto, representing Hastings County.

I attended and participated in “Exercise Cold Front.”  This was a round table exercise dealing with Emergency Preparedness – Strengthening Provincial-Municipal Coordination During an Ice Storm. 

CAO Connolly and I attended three delegations:

i) Ministry of Mines and Energy (Re: pumped storage and electricity demands)
ii) Ministry of Transportation (infrastructure)
iii) Ministry of Finance (accompanied Stirling-Rawdon Re: Hwy 14)

Zone Meetings (Zone 6); Omers Governance Changes; EISO Luncheon (Re: delivery of electricity, update on nuclear power development and transmission lines); ALTO representative discussions (Re: the proposed high speed rail service and the two optional routes). 

A reminder that there is an open round table session scheduled for March 5th at the Madoc Township Community Hall.

Keynote Speaker was Chantel Hebert and she is a political analyst.

January 20th

Tonight is a Planning Meeting, Committee of Adjustment and the regular meeting of Marmora and Lake Council.
