Mayor's Report for November 5, 2024

October 15th

I attended Hastings County Planning & Development and Finance, Property & Personnel Committee Meetings.

Immediately after, I attended a special Meeting of Hastings County Council.

At 1:00 p.m., I participated in the annual Performance Evaluation for the County CAO.

At 6:30 p.m., I presided over the Regular Marmora and Lake Council Meeting.

October 16th

I attended a meeting of Mayor’s and Staff regarding the status of the Centre Hastings Support Network in Stirling.

October 18th

I attended the Madoc Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Business Service Awards.  On behalf of Marmora and Lake Council, I congratulated the recipients of the awards.

The legal name of the Chamber has been changed to Central & North Hastings Chamber of Commerce.

October 21st

At noon, I attended a meeting of the Doctor Recruitment Committee. This is going to be an ongoing issue as doctors retire and move to other opportunities.

At 2:00, I participated in a special meeting with the Ministry of Health officials to discuss the proposed merger.

October 22nd

I chaired the regular meeting of Sacred Heart Parish Council.

October 23rd

I participated in the regular meeting of Hastings Prince Edward Board of Health Governance Committee.

October 24th

I chaired a special Marmora and Lake Closed Council Meeting.

October 28th

I chaired a special Marmora and Lake Closed Council Meeting.

October 29th

I participated in a Community of Practice Meeting with the Ministry of Health staff to further discuss the proposed merger of the Boards of Health.

October 31st

I attended the regular Hastings County Council Meeting.

Nominations were received for the position of Hastings County Warden.  Warden Bob Mullin was nominated and accepted the nomination which was unanimously endorsed by Council.  The inauguration will be held at the December 7th regular Council Meeting.

At 2:00, I met with the Arena Manager in Stirling to discuss our current situation with the Arena and to thank him for his support.

October 31st was Halloween.  On behalf of Marmora and Lake Council, thank you to all the organizers and participants who participated in the Trunk & Treaters special event.  The main street was decorated and created a very safe and fun Halloween celebration.  I understand that some candy givers prepared about 400 bags and they run out before the night was officially over.  These events make our Town a special Community.

November 1st–3rd

The Annual Christmas Tour was kicked off.  Thank you to the merchants and business owners for participating in making the event successful.  Again, a very community event and thanks to the organizers, the shoppers and everyone who supported our local businesses.

Just a reminder that the event is also planned for November 8th, 9th, and 10th. 

November 4th

I travelled to Brockville to participate in the SETT (South East Transition Team) Meeting. 

November 5th

I attended the SETT Meeting.  It was a very successful and exciting meeting.  An announcement on the proposed merger will be made early next week.
