Mayor's Report for November 19, 2024

November 5th

I attended a meeting in Brockville regarding the proposed Board of Health merger of Hastings Prince Edward, Leeds Grenville Lanark and Kingston Frontenac Leeds and Grenville. We are still waiting for a decision from the Ministry.

At 6:30, I presided over the regular Council Meeting.

November 8th

I attended a meeting of Mayors and senior staff regarding the Central Hastings Support Network. CHSN staff and Board representatives presented their proposal for services and funding going forward. They will be making a presentation to our Council before the end of the year.

That afternoon, I joined John Connelly, our new CAO, for lunch.

November 11th

I attended the Remembrance Day Ceremonies. Legion members, representatives from 8 Wing Trenton, reserves, Girl Guides, students, etc. participated. We assembled at the Legion and marched to the Cenotaph. I placed the wreath, accompanied by Deputy Mayor Stevens, on behalf of the Municipality. The event was well attended by the public and the rain held off during the ceremony.

Thank you to the Marmara Legion, Branch 237, and everyone who contributed to organizing the event. It was also nice to see so many students and Girl Guides present. Thank you to the Lion's Club for their assistance and for ensuring the park was groomed and prepared. Thank you to staff for providing the technical services (with only a minor glitch with microphones which they quickly addressed).

A special thank you to the Legion for providing an excellent lunch and refreshments following the ceremonies.

November 13th

I met with Yvonne Robert, Interim CAO, to thank her for her services as our interim CAO. Wednesday was her last official day in the office.

November 15th

I attended the office to sign cheques and documents.

November 16th

I attended the Festival of Trees, put on by the lion's Club. The presentation was amazing with every size, colour and theme decorated trees. Wreaths, baskets and special decorations were available along with apple cider and snacks. Thank you to the Lion's Club members and everyone who sponsored the trees and decorations and to everyone who attended and supported this great community Christmas event.

November 18th

I attended the office to welcome John Connolly, our new CAO, on his first day with Marmora and Lake.

November 19th

Today, I attended Hastings County Planning & Development Committee, and Finance, Property & Personnel Committee Meetings.

At 1:00, I attended a special Governance Committee Meeting at BOH to participate in the Performance Review of the Medical Officer of Health.

At 5:30, I presided over the regular Planning Meeting.
