Mayor's Report for December 3, 2024

November 19th

I attended Hastings County Planning & Development and Finance, Property & Personnel Committee Meetings.

At 1:30, I participated in a Board of Health Special Governance Meeting to review the Performance Appraisal for the Medical Officer of Health.

At 6:30, I presided over the regular meeting of Marmara and Lake Council.

At Council, I was pleased to introduce John Connelly who has joined our Team as Chief Administrative Officer. It was also the last official day for Yvonne Robert who served as our Interim CAO. Thank you, Yvonne, for your leadership during the recruitment process.

November 25th

I participated in a virtual meeting with Ministry of Health staff regarding the proposed BOH mergers.

I travelled to Kingston to participate in the meeting of the SETT (South East Transition Team).

November 26th

I participated in the SETT Meeting to review the mandatory by­laws required for the new South East Health Unit when it is approved by the Province.

At 3:00, I participated in a meeting with Ministry of Health staff to receive updates on the progress of the merger project.

November 27th

Tammy May and I presented a "new business” certificate to Megan Spagnola, the new manager of The Vapoury.

I attended the office to sign cheques and met briefly with John to review some ongoing issues.

November 28th

I attended Hastings County Council. Springdale Construction (Phil Spry) made a delegation to County Council for a 30 day extension to obtain the necessary approvals and commence construction on the proposed development of 15 rental units in Deloro. County Council approved a 30 day extension with certain timelines proposed by the developer. The developer committed to have the project ready for occupancy by the end of 2025.

At 1:30, I attended the regular meeting of the Building Inspection Services Board. The Board has revised the funding formula based on a three year average of permit values issued. A report will be brought forward with the amendments.
