The 2026 Final Budget Has Been Posted

The Council of the Municipality of Marmora and Lake passed the 2026 Budget at the Special Budget Meeting on Thursday, March 12, 2026, with an overall increase of 5.78%. The final budget has been posted on the municipal website. You can find it here.

The 2026 Budget was developed to balance current operational requirements with ongoing investments in roads, facilities, equipment, and other municipal priorities. Council recognizes the impact that budget increases can have on residents and businesses. The approved budget was carefully considered, with attention to rising costs, service delivery requirements, and the need to maintain the infrastructure supporting our municipality. The 2026 Budget will help ensure the Municipality of Marmora and Lake can continue to deliver core municipal services, maintain and improve infrastructure, meet legislative and operational obligations, and support the needs of the community in a financially responsible manner.

Overall, the 2026 capital budget is $2.6 million. Major capital projects include the completion of Centre Line Road rehabilitation, along with 3.5 km of Deloro Road. The overall Transportation capital budget is $1.5 million, and $200,000 is being set aside in reserves for future bridge repair and replacement. The Dr. Hamilton Crawford Memorial Arena is receiving much-needed upgrades of $450,200, and $241,000 has been allocated for Parks & Recreation equipment, improvements, and reserves.  The Environmental Services Department is receiving $147,400 for infrastructure, funded from utility rates.

Taxpayers will see an annual increase of 5.78% on their total tax bill. This is represented by an increase of $150.31 for the year (or about $12.53/month) for the average residential property with an assessed value of $168,000. This overall increase includes the impact of the Hastings County budget, which came in slightly higher than projected.
