Crowe Valley Conservation: Water Safety Statement
ISSUED: 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 29, 2026
SUBJECT: WATERSHED CONDITIONS STATEMENT – WATER SAFETY STATEMENT issued to downgrade the Flood Watch issued April 24, 2026, for all lakes and rivers within the watershed jurisdiction of Crowe Valley Conservation Authority (CVCA).
ISSUED TO: Municipalities, water management authorities, Indigenous communities, Ministry of Natural Resources and Crowe Valley Conservation’s other partners in flood emergency management.
WEATHER: Recent and forecasted cooler temperatures with minimal rain forecasted.
FLOOD RISK: Water levels have receded and flows decreased on lakes, rivers and their tributaries including low-lying flood-prone areas along Beaver Creek, North River, Crowe River and it’s tributaries. Flooding is not expected due to forecasted conditions. However, high water levels and flows in combination with cold water temperatures are expected to persist and can create hazardous conditions.
ACTION: Stay away from shorelines, dams, weirs, hydro generating stations and bridges as high water levels and flows create dangerous conditions. Unsafe conditions will persist on and around all area watercourses, including slippery and unstable banks, extremely cold water and fast and turbulent flows. Residents along local watercourses, especially those located in low-lying areas are encouraged to stay informed by monitoring weather updates and water levels. Crowe Valley Conservation continues to monitor weather, water levels and flows and will issue updates as required.
This WATERSHED CONDITIONS STATEMENT - WATER SAFETY will expire at 3:00 p.m., May 7, 2026 unless updated earlier.
