Election 2026: New dates added for FREE AMO election workshops!
With nominations opening this Friday for the 2026 Municipal Election, maybe you’re looking for more information before deciding whether to run? Well, you’re in luck! Keep reading for various opportunities coming up in May and June, just for you.
1) Marmora and Lake, in cooperation with the other municipalities of Hastings County, are hosting FREE workshops in our area, designed to give potential candidates a clear and realistic understanding of what public office involves.
These workshops are intended to help you make an informed decision about whether running for office is the right fit for you, and to help those who choose to run do so with confidence and clarity.

Supporting Local Leadership in run up to the 2026 Municipal Election
Stream 1: For elected officials at the municipal level across Ontario who are considering re-election in 2026 and preparing their path forward. (May 7)
Stream 2: For community members considering a run for municipal office in 2026—first-time candidates who want to build confidence before launching a campaign. Civic-minded leaders who want to explore whether elected office is right for them. (May 19)
Running for Municipal Office – Everything You Need to Know as an Underrepresented Candidate
This workshop will prepare you for municipal office and equip you with what to expect running as an underrepresented candidate as well as key strategies for running a successful campaign. (June 9)
Info Sessions for Youth Considering Running for Municipal Office
These sessions will provide insights and strategies to build your understanding and confidence around how to become a candidate and running a campaign. (June 2)
