π Fall Update from the Roads Department π
Happy first day of fall! π¦ππ Fall is a time to reset and prepare for the long winter months ahead and here at the Marmora and Lake Roads Department, the crew has been busy doing just that! Hereβs what is happening around the Department:
Fall Grading: Grading is underway. This is important to smooth out gravel road surfaces and prepare them for the freeze-thaw cycles of winter.
Patching: This is ongoing throughout the Municipality to keep roads safe and in good condition.
Brushing: This is also ongoing to clear vegetation along roadways for better visibility and safety.
Winter Fleet Prep: Trucks are being serviced, calibrated, and fitted with wings. GPS units are being checked and yearly safety inspections completed.
Sign Clearing: This is ongoing to ensure road signs remain visible and clear, which is especially important once the snow begins to accumulate.
Winter Sand & Salt Deliveries: Stockpiling of sand and salt will begin this month so the Crew is ready for icy roads and sidewalks.
Did you know? Starting November 1st, sand will be available for public use at:
π70 OβBrien St.
π11 Fidlar Glen Rd.
π2054 North Steenburg Lake Rd.
October 1st: Winter weather maintenance checks begin.
November 1st: Winter patrols and winter hours officially start.
Plow Route Review & Refresher Training: The crew will be reviewing routes and completing a refresher course for winter plow operators training to prepare for the season.
π Reminder: Now is the perfect time to start booking your vehicle in for winter tire installation before the snow begins to fly.
While fall may be the season to slow down and reflect, for the Roads Department, itβs one of the busiest times of the year, as we gear up to keep our community safe and moving throughout the winter season.
We want to thank you for your continued support - the Roads Crew truly appreciates it! π·ββοΈπ·ββοΈ
