Public Notice: Significant Weather Event in Marmora and Lake
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR RESIDENTS:
Environment Canada is predicting freezing rain that is expected to begin later this afternoon, Sunday, December 28, 2025, and continue overnight. The freezing rain may briefly change to rain on Monday, December 29th, as temperatures are expected to rise slightly above the freezing mark.
Roads and walkways may become icy and slippery, and prolonged power outages are possible.
As a result, the Municipality of Marmora and Lake has declared a Significant Weather Event, as defined within the Minimum Maintenance Standards O. Reg. 239/02. During a Significant Weather Event, residents are advised to use caution and are reminded that winter maintenance service levels for roads may not be met.
The declaration does not change how or when the municipality performs its winter maintenance operations, however, it may take longer than usual to return roads and sidewalks to a state of repair.
The Significant Weather Event will remain in effect until conditions improve and the municipality is satisfied that it can reasonably meet the minimum maintenance standards. A notice will be issued when the event has ended.
Thank you for your patience, and please exert extra caution when travelling!
