I was invited to participate in the ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate International Women's Day at Caressent Care in Marmora. I was unable to attend so Councillor Lakatos attended to represent the Council of Marmora and Lake. Thank you, Jane. The Soul Sisters of Marmora co-ordinate the event and residents play a role in recognizing the contributions and evolving roles of women in the workforce and in our communities. I always look forward to this event as I think the ladies who live there and work there are a very special component of our past and present social economy of Marmora and Lake. Thank you to the Soul Sisters, the staff, residents and everyone who contributed to the event.

There were many volunteers, including Councillor Eric who was the official greeter. There was a delicious assortment of teas, pastries and cookies. The space was formally decorated with white table cloths and purple bows. Something we don't see often, the tea and pastries were served on china cups, saucers, plates. There were draws and the Parkin House was open to tour. Thank you to Mary and her team. The proceeds were directed to the Three Oaks organization.
