August 3, 2021: Mayor's Report

July 6th

I presided over the regular Planning Meeting and the regular meeting of Council.

I participated in a weekly meeting with Dr. Oglaza Hastings Prince Edward Medical Officer of Health and Jo Anne Albert, HPEPH Board Chair. Dr. Oglaza suggested that there will be a Recovery Discussion Session in September.

July 7th

I participated in a CLOSED meeting of the HPEPH Board.

I participated in the bi-weekly meeting of Hastings County and HPEPH

July 13th

I participated in a CLOSED meeting of Hastings County Council. I participated in our weekly meeting with Dr. Oglaza and Chair Albert.

July 14th

I participated in a special meeting regarding the EORN GIG Project. The news was not good for the EORN project and the EOWC as the announcement was that the project would not proceed as proposed. You will note a letter in the Agenda (page 95) and I will speak to it when the correspondence is discussed.

July 21st

I participated in the bi-weekly meeting of Hastings County and HPEPH. Dr. Tumouchey advised that the Delta variant is present but numbers are low.

July 22nd

I attended the office to sign cheques and meet with the Bylaw Enforcement Officer regarding by-law violations and progress in enforcement efforts.

At noon, On your behalf, Councillor Donaldson and I presented a certificate for the Senior of the Year Award to Linda Pacaud. She was extremely pleased and appreciative of being recognized for her contribution of 22 years in her role at the Food Bank. Attending with her was her husband and Ellen who also volunteer at the food bank. Thank you very much for your dedication and contribution Linda and all the volunteers who make up the team at the food bank. There are members of the community who rely on your services. On behalf of Council and the community, thank you again.

In the afternoon I participated in the weekly meeting with Dr. Oglaza and Chair Albert.

July 27th

I chaired a meeting of the Personnel Committee.

Later, I participated in an Emergency Control Group Meeting. At that time in consultation with the Emergency Control Group staff, effective July 27th, I terminated the State of Emergency in the Municipality of Marmora and Lake, related to Covid.

In the evening, I chaired the regular meeting of the Economic Development Committee. At the next meeting, we will be discussing the planning for the 200th Anniversary. We are expecting to establish committees for various events, projects, and fundraising. Please keep in mind, we will be looking for participants and volunteers. This is a very important event in Marmora and Lake and it will require a commitment from the community to make it happen.

July 29th

I met with Jim Locke, Staff Sergeant of the Madoc OPP Detachment to discuss enforcement issues and services to the municipality. We agreed to meet regularly. Deputy Mayor Stevens is the appointed member of the Police Services Board.

July 30th

I chaired a Special Closed Meeting of Council.

August 1st

I prepared for an upcoming hearing for applications to the Crowe Valley Conservation Authority and today's meeting.
