POLICY STATEMENT

The Council of the Municipality of Marmora and Lake acknowledges and recognizes the value and benefit that local Marmora and Lake volunteer groups and organizations bring to the community at large through events, community-benefitting fundraisers, and programming for children, youth and seniors. Likewise, Council wishes to encourage free and subsidized public programming and events that promote community spirit, education, health and well-being by enhancing the quality of life for the residents of Marmora and Lake, as well as allow residents to access important social services within their own community.

PURPOSE

This policy has been developed to support the User Fee Bylaw (updated annually), by establishing a fair, equitable and consistent decision-making process for community groups and organizations requesting rental fee waivers or reductions for use of municipal facilities for programs, community-benefitting fundraisers and special events, to optimize limited municipal resources and the benefits to the community.

SCOPE

This policy pertains exclusively to the following facilities belonging to and operated by the Municipality of Marmora and Lake, as per section 391 (1) (c) of the Municipal Act, 2001, as amended, which authorizes a municipality to impose fees or charges on persons for the use of its property, including property under its control: the Community Centre (Lions Hall), the Community Hub, the William Shannon Room, Deloro Hall, and the fairgrounds.
