Alto’s “What We Heard” Public Engagement Report Now Available

Alto High-Speed Rail has released a “What We Heard” report summarizing feedback from in-person, virtual and Indigenous consultation sessions held earlier this year.

Between January and April 2026, Alto held 26 in-person open houses. This included local sessions in Madoc Township and Stirling-Rawdon. Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback about the proposed project. Feedback was also collected via virtual sessions, online surveys, and exit surveys.

That data is now available. To view the full report, visit Alto’s website: https://tinyurl.com/4juvpaye

The next phase of consultation will take place this fall and will focus on a narrower corridor for the Central segment that stretches from Ottawa to Montréal. Consultations for the Western (Toronto to Ottawa) and Eastern (Montréal to Québec City) segments, are expected in early 2027.

Additionally, the Hon. Steven MacKinnon, Minister of Transport, announced today that he has asked Alto to develop a plan to assess a southern route option between Peterborough and Ottawa, including a potential stop in Kingston that would interconnect with VIA Rail services.
