Notice of Economic Development Advisory Committee Vacancies
Are you passionate about local economic growth, business and resident attraction and retention, community development, and tourism promotion? The Municipality of Marmora and Lake is seeking to fill three (3) positions on the Economic Development Advisory Committee of Council, for the current Council term.
The Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) advises on matters relating to the economic well-being of Marmora and Lake and makes recommendations to Council relating to the economic development of the Municipality. The Committee does not directly create new economic activity or jobs; its role is to provide suggestions to the Economic Development Department and Council, with an objective to positively influence the local business climate, facilitate economic growth, and provide insight into community and economic development issues and opportunities.
Some of the roles and activities of the EDAC include:
Advising on matters related to economic development policy, strategy, and implementation plans through recommendations to Council.
Contributing and providing feedback on economic development programs and initiatives.
Acting as ambassadors profiling economic opportunities in Marmora and Lake.
Reviewing Community Improvement Plan (CIP) funding applications.
Providing a voice for businesses related to municipal policies, initiatives, and programs put forward by staff that may have identified economic development impact.
The Committee meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 5:00 p.m., at the Marmora & Lake Public Library (with additional special meetings of the Committee, as required).
