Public Notice: Fire Hydrant Flushing
Staff from our Environmental Services Department will be flushing fire hydrants around town beginning early next week.
Fall hydrant flushing is an important part of our annual maintenance work. Flushing helps ensure water pressure and flow rates meet fire safety standards.
Flushing also pulls fresh, fully treated water from the plant through the water system, supplying clean and safe drinking water for the community.
During hydrant flushing, sediment in the mains can be stirred up, briefly causing dirty water. If this occurs, please run your tap until the flow is clear. Doing laundry is also not recommended while nearby hydrants are being flushed because it can leave stains on clothing.
You may see staff out and about flushing hydrants between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. all week next week.
