Alto High-Speed Rail Local Public Engagement

At the November 4, 2025, meeting of Council, representatives from Alto appeared before Council as a delegation about the High-Speed Rail project. Since then, the Government of Canada announced the first segment of the network (Ottawa to Montreal) and launched a public engagement process.

Public consultations will run from January through March 2026 and will include open houses, roundtables, and virtual sessions. A full list of public open house dates and locations is available here: https://www.altotrain.ca/en/public-consultation.

Two open houses are being held within Hastings County:

  • March 5 @ 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. and 5-9 p.m. @ Madoc Township Recreation Centre, 15651 Hwy 62, Madoc

  • March 25, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. & 5-9 p.m., Stirling and District Lions Club, 435 W Front St, Stirling

Alto’s goal is to involve Canadians throughout the development of the project and to offer multiple opportunities for the public to share feedback on project plans and community priorities. Residents are encouraged to attend and learn more directly from project representatives.
