Crowe Valley Conservation: Media Release
Installation of Fencing at Marmora Dam – 8 August 2025
The Crowe Valley Conservation Authority (CVCA) takes public safety seriously and wants to ensure the safety of its residents especially around its water control structures. In addition, the fencing will ensure there are fewer interactions between CVCA staff and residents during the operation of this dam which will also increase staff and public safety. In an effort to increase public safety the CVCA will be installing fencing at the Marmora Dam previous public access points. After consultation with Municipality of Marmora and Lake, the municipality agrees any effort to increase public safety will be beneficial for the community. The project will include clear signage indicating restricted entry.
The CVCA understands that the Marmora Dam has historically been a place of interest for members of the public however, as public safety is our top priority – members of the public will no longer have access to the dam. This fencing is a necessary step to prevent accidents while protecting the integrity of the site.
The project is scheduled to begin on Monday, August 18th through to Friday, August 22nd. We request members of the public avoid the area during the construction of the fence to allow workers the ability to complete the project in a safe and efficient manner.
Once the project is complete, the fencing will restrict access and members of the public are reminded that entering the fenced area is not permissible.
If you have any questions, please contact the Crowe Valley Conservation Authority from Monday – Friday during the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
