Happy Local Government Week!
October 19-25 is Local Government Week in Ontario!
Municipalities are the level of government closest to the people, tackling issues you care about most, and providing the services that you rely on every day.
Did you know that Ontario’s municipalities manage nearly a trillion dollars worth of roads, bridges, waterlines, parks and buildings? More than both the provincial and federal governments.
As we head toward a municipal election in 2026, are you considering getting involved? The Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) is hosting a FREE online workshop series for members of Council seeking re-election AND those considering running for Council for the first time!
This workshop series is being offered for no charge in two streams:
Stream 1: For elected officials at the municipal level across Ontario who are considering re-election in 2026 and preparing their path forward. Register Here
Stream 2: For community members considering a run for municipal office in 2026—first-time candidates who want to build confidence before launching a campaign. Civic-minded leaders who want to explore whether elected office is right for them. Register Here
For those who aren’t interested in running for municipal office, but are wondering how to get more involved in the municipal decision-making process, have a look at the following page on the municipal website: https://marmoraandlake.ca/participating
