Are you a local company interested in becoming a Service Ontario Provider?

Did you know that the Marmora and Lake's Service Ontario contract is due for renewal this May?

Our municipal council recognizes the importance of keeping offices like Service Ontario local to serve our community. They also realize the benefits these types of services have on the local economy.

Before council decides to renew the contract with Service Ontario, they are interested in finding out if any local businesses would like the opportunity to become the local Service Ontario Provider.

Staff will prepare a report to council informing them on the level of interest within the local business community to offer Service Ontario in their establishment.

Here are a few factors to consider:

Municipal Involvement

  • The information will only guide their decision to extend the municipal contract for Service Ontario.

  • The municipality would have no say on who would gain the contract.

  • The Ministry of Government and Consumer Services manages Service Ontario for the province.

  • Should a business apply for the contract, the municipality would have no influence or decision-making power within that process.

Description of Issuing Services

  • The issuance of motor vehicle permits and driver licensing transactions as provided for in the Highway Traffic Act (Ontario)

  • Specific Health Card transactions including original registrations, eligible renewals, change of information, and replacements

  • Issuing Ontario Photo Cards

  • Receipt and remission of payments for fines

  • Receipt and remission of payments for Retail Sales Tax

Service Provider Compensation

  • Service Providers receive commissions for each transaction processed.

  • Service Providers currently receive an annual stipend to help offset a portion of fixed costs.
