Flood Warning Issued for Marmora and Lake

Please be advised the Crowe Valley Conservation Authority has upgraded its flood advisory from a flood watch to a FLOOD WARNING effective April 19 at 3 p.m.

Increased rainfall over the past 24 hours, combined with rapid snowmelt in the northern region of the watershed, is causing increased water levels and flows along Crowe Lake, Crowe River and Beaver Creek in the municipality.

Rain is expected to continue for the next 24 hours, heightening the probability of dangerous flooding in low-lying areas and along waterways.

Residents living in these areas should be taking immediate steps to prepare for moderate to severe flooding. Sand bags and sand are available at the Marmora and Lake Fire Department, 5 Matthew Street. Fire Department staff are available to assist those in need. Please contact Fire Chief Tony Brownson at 613-472-2748 or 613-921-6117.

The CVCA is once again urging everyone - with emphasis on children - steer clear of dams, bridges, riversides and hydro generating plants to avoid the risk of injury or drowning incidents.
