Marmora Economic Development and Partners Run a Successful Pilot Event
Marmora & Lake participated in an experiential tourism workshop in the spring of 2019. The IGNITE program was hosted at the Northern Edge Algonquin retreat and explored the benefits of connecting people in your community to improve and create tourism assets.
This week the Economic Development and Tourism Department partnered with Hastings County and the Ontario’s Highlands Tourism Organization to offer a fun evening intended to connect local event organizers with local experience providers.
This pilot event was based on one of the experiences from the workshop where participants circulate in a speed dating fashion to get to know the experience providers that live locally.
The pilot event was held at the Iron Grille and about 20 local event organizers and experience providers participated in our "Shoulder Season Event Shuffle". Feedback from the participants has been positive. Economic Development hopes to offer another shoulder season workshop in 2020 and will be inviting this year’s participants to nominate someone to join in on next year’s event.
