Volunteer Position Opportunity on the Economic Development Advisory Committee

Are you passionate about local economic growth, business and resident attraction and retention, community development and tourism promotion? The Municipality of Marmora and Lake is currently seeking Volunteers for the Economic Development Advisory Committee of Council, for the current Council term.

The Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) advises on matters relating to the economic well-being of Marmora and Lake and makes recommendations to Council relating to the economic development of the Municipality. The Committee does not directly create new economic activity or jobs; its role is to provide suggestions to the Economic Development Department and Council, with an objective to positively influence the local business climate, facilitate economic growth and provide insight on community and economic development issues and opportunities.

Some of the roles and activities of the EDAC include:

1. Advise on matters related to economic development policy, strategy and implementation plans through recommendations to Council.

2. Contribute and provide feedback on economic development programs and initiatives.

3. Act as ambassadors profiling economic opportunities in Marmora and Lake.

4. Review Community Improvement Plan (CIP) Grant applications.

5. Provide a voice for businesses related to municipal policies, initiatives and programs put forward by staff that may have identified economic development impact.

The Committee meets on the last Tuesday of each month at 5:00 pm, with additional special meetings of the Committee as required.

If you are interested in volunteering for this advisory committee and are a Marmora and Lake business owner or resident, please submit a letter answering the following questions for consideration to tmay@marmoraandlake.ca by Friday, January 19, 2024 (noon).
