September 21, 2021: Mayor's Report
September 7th
I presided over the regular Planning and Council Meeting
September 8th
I met with Mary Provost and staff to consider options for celebrating the 200th Anniversary.
September 9th
I participated in the weekly meeting with the Board of Health, i.e., Dr.Oglaza, Dr. Toumishey, and Chair Albert. The Covid passport requirements effective September 22nd were discussed and how these restrictions should be implemented and applied to our current operations within facilities particularly arenas. There is communication in the Agenda which I will speak to as part of the Agenda and follow-up information from the Hastings Prince Edward Board of Health in response to a letter requesting clarification from the Clerks & Treasurer’s Association.
I met with the CAO to discuss planning matters within the municipality
September 15th
I participated in a special Closed Meeting and then a regular meeting with Hastings County Council.
At this regular meeting, Hastings County Council passed a Mandatory Vaccine Policy and By-law. The policy applies to all Hastings County Council, Staff, Contractors, Volunteers, Students, etc. with exceptions as specified. A copy of the Policy is included in this Agenda. I urge you to read the policy as we may be forced to consider a similar policy. In accordance with Provincial regulations, we have a Health and Safety obligation to keep our public, residents, and staff safe.

I participated in the bi-weekly meeting with Hastings County and Hastings Prince Edward Board of Health. As of that date, there were 22 active cases with one new case. Dave Pym, BGH, reported on protesters in various hospital locations.
1:30 – 3:30
I participated in a special meeting of the Board of Health to create a proposed strategy for recovery following the pandemic. We were provided with a draft outline for speaking notes prior to the meeting. Eric Lockart facilitated the exercise. The main topics were: i) how does the recovery plan fit with the Board of Health Strategic Plan
ii) how do we get back on track to normal services provided by the Board of Health post pandemic including budget preparation
iii) discussion on the important role of Board members in governance. Comments and input was received and a final document will be prepared for consideration by the Board. When a final document is approved, it will be included in the Council Agenda.
September 16th
I participated in Crowe Valley Conservation Authority's “Watershed Advisory Board Hearing”.
The regular meeting of the CVCA followed. There have been ongoing discussions regarding responsibility for maintenance on the Gut Road. Tim Pidduck thanked Dylan for providing good information. There are some land ownership issues to be resolved.
I met with staff regarding some legal and Agenda issues and responded to resident’s calls.
