January 7, 2020: Mayor's Report

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO COUNCIL, STAFF AND MARMORA AND LAKE RESIDENTS

It was a relatively quiet time due to the holidays and the office closure. The last meeting of Council was held on December 17th.

December 17th

I attended the Planning and Development and Finance, Property and Personnel Committee Meetings at Hastings County. That afternoon, Tonia and I distributed Christmas wishes to staff.

At 4: 00 the same day, all of Council and staff attended the training on Minimum Maintenance Standards. This training session was open to the public - there was no public in attendance. We were hoping that this would have been an opportunity for the public to understand the rationale for planned maintenance and the liability issues which dictate the need for standards of care primarily related to road maintenance and budgeting.

December 20th

December 20th was the day for Council input to the Treasurer regarding the draft budget.

January 1, 2020

I attended the New Year's Levee at the Royal Canadian Legion. On behalf of myself and Council, thank you to Maxine Bell, Annette Goslin and the legion members for organizing and hosting the event. Derek Sloan, MP, for Hastings Lennox and Addington was present. This occasion was well attended and it was a pleasant community event to start the New Year.

January 7th

I attended Board of Health as an ad hoc committee member for an administrative matter.

The Personnel Committee met this afternoon. Alex Kelly, Treasurer has submitted his resignation and has accepted a position with Centre Hastings. Congratulations to Alex and thank you for your contribution to Marmora and Lake over the past year. We wish you all the best in your new career.
