May 21st Planning and Development Meeting and Finance Property and Personnel Meeting Hastings County
Jim Pine, CAO, Hastings County submitted a report in Support of Hastings and Prince Edward Public Health.
Background: Hastings Prince Edward Public Health has been advised by the Province of Ontario that the proposed boundaries for the Regional Public Health Entities will result in HPEPH being merged with Pterborough, Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge and Durham Region Public Health as opposed to being included with partners in eastern Ontario including Kingston Frontenac Lennox and Addington and Leeds and Genville.
Tomorrow, JoAnne Albert, Chair of the HPEPH and Dr. Piotr Oglaza, Medical Officer of Health are meeting with Todd Smith MP and Daryl Kramp, MPP to express their opposition to the proposed boundary alignments and advocate for HPE County to be aligned with more appropriate boards of health to the east.
Hopefully, they will advocate to the government on our behalf to reconsider their boundary changes where similar geography, demographics and partnerships already exist.
May 22nd will be attending the Board of Health Meeting
May 23rd will be attending an emergency AMO Meeting in Toronto
