Public Notice: Significant Weather Event In Marmora And Lake

Environment Canada is predicting snowfall accumulation of 25 to 40 cm, beginning this evening (Saturday, February 15th, 2025) and carrying on through Sunday (February 16th). Locally, greater accumulation is possible over the Algonquin Highlands. Peak snowfall rates of 3 to 6 cm per hour. Significantly reduced visibility in heavy and blowing snow.

As a result, the Municipality of Marmora and Lake has declared a significant weather event, as defined within the Minimum Maintenance Standards O. Reg. 239/02. During a significant weather event, residents are advised to use caution and are reminded that winter maintenance service levels for roads may not be met.

The declaration will not change how or when the Municipality performs its winter maintenance operations, however, it may take us longer than usual to bring the roads and sidewalks back to a state of repair.
