Restricted Fire Ban Now in Effect for Marmora and Lake

As of June 9, 2023, Marmora and Lake falls within a Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry Restricted Fire Zone (RFZ). An RFZ is a specific geographic area where the use of open fires, like campfires or debris burning, is restricted. It is a temporary measure put in place by the Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry when the fire danger is extreme to prevent human caused fires.

The Complete Fire Ban that took effect in Marmora on June 5 has been changed to a Restricted Fire Ban.

This allows for small, self-contained fires for the purpose of cooking and heat, no closer than 10 feet from any combustibles. Fire must be extinguished properly after cooking is completed. Persons are responsible for their fire and any costs associated with fighting a fire that is permitted to get out of control.

Open air burning will still result in fines by the Municipality of Marmora and Lake.

There will be NO burn permits issued during a Restricted Fire Ban.
