MARMORA BEACH CLOSED Due To Dangerously High Water Flow Levels

IMG_3351.png

The Municipality would like to warn residents that water flow measurements are getting too high for safe swimming at Marmora Beach. Crowe Valley Conservation Authority (CVCA) noted anything above ten cubic metres is of concern for swimmers. The measurement from the CVCA today was 27 cubic metres per second, and the flow peaked on Monday at 41.8 cubic metres per second. Although we are now seeing a downward trend, there is no telling how long it will take for the flow rate to reach safe swimming levels.

Therefore, the Municipality would like to caution all swimmers that the water is fast in the river and swimming from Marmora Beach or Mags Landing is not safe at this time.

For safety reasons, the swim program and lifeguarding will now proceed at Booster Park.
