Once you receive your Water Meter Upgrade Notification letter, which includes your reference number, you can book your appointment on-line at https://www.watermeterappt.com/ or by calling 1-800-667-4387 for a time that is convenient to your schedule.
The Water Meter Upgrade Project is scheduled to start mid July and will take approximately 3 months to complete, with an expected completion date of mid September 2020.
The Municipality of Marmora and Lake Environmental Services has approximately 700 water meters throughout the water systems that it owns and operates. Out of that total, there are roughly 650 meters that have been in service for 20 years or more. Water meters last for about 15-20 years before they need to be replaced. As water meters age, they become less accurate and may even leak. A properly working water meter ensures you are billed accurately.
This Water Meter Upgrade Program consists replacing every water meter in Marmora and Lake to an AMR (Automated Meter Read) system.
What is an AMR System? Water meter readings are gathered by driving by an area to collect the data by radio, and the data is then downloaded into the system for billing.
What is an AMI System? The meter works the same way as an AMR System, but the data is collected by collectors stationed in the area and automatically transfers meter reading information to the billing system.
