Fire Ban Continues for Marmora and Lake
The Municipality of Marmora and Lake is located within the East Fire Region of Ontario, which is controlled by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry. The Municipality sits on the border of this region which means some of our neighbouring municipalities have lifted their fire ban while ours remain in effect.
This is a proactive action by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) to reduce the number of preventable human-caused wildfires to ensure that emergency response capacity is maintained. Minimizing wildfires will ensure the province can address any emergency fire situations as well as will reduce necessary contact among staff, and between staff and the public.
Marmora and Lake Fire Chief, Tony Brownson, reached out to the Ministry today to inquire if there is any discussion of lifting the fire-ban in the region. MNRF staff confirmed the ban will remain in effect for the foreseeable future.
Marmora and Lake will update the website when the ban is lifted and share on the Facebook and Twitter pages. Please check back often for up-to-date information.
