Municipal Update: March 18, 2020

As most of you are aware the Covid-19 virus situation is evolving on a constant basis. In response, the Municipality of Marmora and Lake has enacted some measures over the next two weeks to address the situation. The health and wellness of our staff and residents along with our continuity of operations, remains our primary focus. We will continue to provide the essential services required, albeit on a reduced level for the next two weeks.

The reduced hours at Town Hall, and it’s restriction to the public, are implemented out of an abundance of caution for the health of our employees, their families and our community. We want to help reduce the risk of sudden spikes in local cases that could negatively impact our healthcare system and the public.

The Municipality will continue to provide updates on our website, Facebook, and Twitter pages as new information evolves. It is extremely important that we all heed the advice/requests from the various health authorities and upper levels of government. We strongly support the notion that all Ontarians should be self-isolating in an effort to stay healthy themselves and to limit the transmission to others. We all need to practice the concept of “Social Distancing” very diligently. That means having direct contact only with those that we live with or care for on a daily basis. We recognize the need to have access to life essentials such as grocery and drug stores but request that you do this in as responsible a manner as possible.
