Tuesday Evening "Big Bang" Explained

The Municipality has received some inquiries about a large bang heard (and felt) by many residents Tuesday evening.

Fire Cheif, Tony Brownson, was able to get the following information:

One of the artillery shells donated to the Legion for their collection was thought to be live ammunition. The OPP and Military Bomb Squad picked up the Legion shell and contacted Armbro management to arrange a safe site to detonate it. The OPP and Military Bomb Squad did not expect the explosion to make such a loud noise, and in hindsight, the OPP said they should have notified at least the fire department.
