POSITION SUMMARY

To ensure the maintenance and the effective and efficient operation of all equipment required in the operation of the water and wastewater facilities, the related pumping station, booster, collection, and distribution located within the Municipality of Marmora and Lake to ensure the provision of safe drinking water, and compliance of all pertaining legislation.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in municipal water/wastewater services

  • Certification as a Class 2 Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator

  • Certification as a Class 1 in Water Distribution

  • Certification as a Class 2 in Wastewater Collection

  • Strong verbal and listening communication skills

  • Maintain a valid Ontario Class G driver’s license and driver’s abstract in good standing

  • Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with SCADA systems

  • Solid record-keeping, time management, and organizational skills

  • Extensive knowledge of related legislation such as, Safe Drinking Water Act & Ontario Water Resources Act

  • Reside within 40 minutes of the municipal water system when on-call

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Operate and maintain water and wastewater treatment systems

  • Conduct regularly scheduled inspections of facilities, processes, equipment, pumping stations and collection and distribution systems

  • Ensure proper safety procedures, Occupational Health and Safety Act and other applicable regulations are followed

  • Perform Operator-in-Charge (OIC) duties

  • Act as the Overall Responsible Operator (ORO)

  • Available for on-call schedules and weekend shift rotations

The Municipality offers a competitive salary based on education, experience, and qualifications. The annual salary ranges from $ 85,105.00-101,316.00.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Municipality of Marmora and Lake is seeking one (1) hardworking, motivated team player to work in the Transportation Services Department as an equipment operator.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum “D” Driver's Licence with “Z” Endorsement and acceptable driving record. AZ licence is considered an asset.

  • A minimum of one (1) complete winter control season driving experience operating a tandem, single, or tri-axle plow truck with wing and sander.

  • Ability to operate equipment safely and competently, such as grader, excavator, loader, backhoe, tractor, and other equipment.

  • Grader or excavator experience is considered an asset. 

  • Mechanical aptitude to perform various tasks relating to equipment maintenance, operation, and repairs.

  • Traffic Control Training

  • Required to work a 40-hour work week.

  • Able to be on call weekends and public holidays.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safe, competent, and efficient operation of departmental equipment as part of the regular road maintenance program, including using a tandem snow plow with plow and wing, tandem truck, grader, excavator, front-end loader, tractor, backhoe, chainsaw, tree trimmer, and other equipment as required.

  • General labour and maintenance duties including, but not limited to, tree and brush cutting, road and sign maintenance, gravel and cold patching operations, road applications (calcium chloride), guardrail and sidewalk repair, shop maintenance, general vehicle and equipment maintenance.

  • Ability to read and understand current legislation pertaining to the Hours of Work legislation, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Highway Traffic Act, Minimum Maintenance Standards, Municipal Policies, Operational Guidelines, and other legislation and laws, as applicable.

  • Ability to work independently and as an effective member of a team.

  • Other related duties, as requested and required.

The Municipality offers a competitive salary based on education, experience, and qualifications. The Municipal Salary Grid starts at $54,276 and goes up to $65,151 yearly (which is being reviewed in union negotiations). OMERS pension and comprehensive benefit package are also provided.

Winter Maintenance Operator
November 1, 2025, to April 1, 2026

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to and under the direction of the Manager of Transportation Services, the Operator will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to winter maintenance of the Municipal Road Systems.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum “D” Driver License with “Z” Endorsement and acceptable driving record.

  • A minimum one full winter control season driving experience operating a tandem, single or tri-axle plow truck with wing and sander (must be current, i.e. within the last five years.).

  • Ability to safely and competently operate loaders, tractors and other equipment.

  • Mechanical aptitude to perform a wide variety of tasks relating to equipment maintenance, operation and repairs.

  • Available to be on-call nights, weekends and public holidays.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Safe, competent and efficient operation of departmental equipment as part of winter maintenance maintenance program including using a tandem snowplow with plow and wing, front end loader and other equipment as required.

  • Service, maintenance and repair of assigned equipment.

  • Ability to read and understand current legislation as it pertains to the Hours of Work legislation, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Highway Traffic Act, Minimum Maintenance Standards, Municipal Policies, Operational Guidelines, and other legislation and laws, as applicable.

  • Ability to work independently and as an effective member of a team.

  • Other related duties, as requested and required.

The Municipality offers a competitive salary based on education, experience, and qualifications. The hourly wage ranges from $26.31 to $31.33 (which is being reviewed in union negotiations). OMERS pension also available.
