We hope to see you there!
Where were you born?
What was your earliest memory?
Tell me about your childhood…
These are the types of questions Sali A. Tagliamonte and her trained team of experts will be asking the residents of Marmora as they mine for stories. The stories that they gather will be recorded using high quality audio equipment and some will be transcribed with cultural commonalities being identified.
The timing is perfect as the town prepares for their bicentennial event. Staff will be collecting stories from the community that will be used in the events planned for 2021. Manager of Economic Development, Megan Abraham says “Even though we are a few years out, planning is underway for events that highlight our rich cultural heritage and community history. This opportunity will help build toward some of the activities we’re developing for the 200th.”
Who can participate?
We encourage all residents, of all ages, that grew up in Marmora to sign up to be interviewed. Students, adults, and seniors are all important to the overall story and history of the town. The work that is completed will be a time capsule for generations to come.
You don’t have to have a story prepared, the team is trained in gathering information and will lead you through the process as you travel down memory lane.
