Incoming Council Tours Municipal Facilities, Receives Training

Marmora and Lake - Last week was a busy one for incoming council.

The newly elected members of Marmora and Lake council joined municipal staff for two days of training on November 7 and 8 that included a two-hour facility tour and day-long introduction to each department as well as a four-hour training session on municipal government.

Each department head completed a year-end report, highlighting 2018 achievements and challenges as well as 2019 goals that was presented to the new council members on the morning of Nov. 7.

That day also included a full facility tour which provided an opportunity for department heads to talk about capital projects and expenses and explain how their department functions on a daily basis.

Day two was an opportunity for incoming council to expand their knowledge about the role of municipal government and how it impacts the functions of the municipality.

Fred Dean and Nigel Bellchamber of Amberly Gavel provided a four-hour workshop to staff and council elect that was both enlightening and educational.

The new council will be sworn in on December 4 at 2 p.m.
