Outgoing council holds last meeting

Marmora and Lake outgoing council held its last official council meeting on November 6.

Mayor Terry Clemens, who will not be returning for another term, said he has enjoyed working with staff and the public and thanks them for their cooperation and dedication to the community.

Deputy Mayor Linda Bracken echoed Clemens’ thoughts, stating she is proud to have had the chance to work on behalf of the residents of Marmora and Lake for more than 15 years.

“It has been a joy. I am sorry I will not be at the table to work with you (in the future) but I know that the next council will do a wonderful job,” she said. “I have also enjoyed working with our staff. They are the best and we are very fortunate to have them.”

Councillor Mike Stevens is the only current member who will be returning for another four year term. He’ll be serving as Deputy Mayor.

“I’ve very much enjoyed working with this council and I’m looking forward to working with the new council,” he said.

Newly elected Mayor Jan O’Neill and councillors Jason Carman, Bernie Donaldson and Ron Derry will be sworn in at the December 4 meeting.
